How To Calculate Pure Precious Metal Content Weight In Your Jewelry:

Making educated purchases and the right decisions are important in all aspects of life, especially when it comes to spending your hard-earned dollar. Selling gold, silver and platinum jewelry is no different, it's very important to know exactly why something is priced the way that it is.

Knowing the pure precious metal content in a piece helps you break down the price to its simplest form: 99.9% purity.

We calculate your payout based on the weight of the 99.9% fineness of precious metal in your gold, silver and platinum jewelry. Simply multiply the weight of your jewelry in grams by its purity.

For example: if you have a 14K gold chain that weighs 12 grams, knowing that 14 karats equal 58.3% purity, you can calculate that the pure gold(24K) content weight in the chain is 6.99 grams. (12grams X 58.3% purity = 6.99grams of 24K(999) pure gold)

Precious metals are weighed using troy units. One ounce troy = 31.1 grams. To calculate the spot price of gold in grams, simply take today's spot price per ounce and divide it by 31.1 grams.

For example: Let's assume that today's spot price of gold is $1800 per ounce.

($1800 / 31.1grams = $57.87 per gram of 24K(999) pure gold.
